MEETINGS

Regular monthly meetings of the Society are held January through May, August through October, on the fourth (4th) Thursday of the month at 7:00p.m. at the Daughtry Foundation Building, 221 College St., Jackson, GA. Meetings are published in the Jackson Progress-Argus prior to the meeting. Everyone is invited to attend We have a wide variation of programs and speakers. Light refreshments are served.

VOLUNTEERS

Members are encouraged to volunteer to help with the Native American Fest, Artifact ID Day, and other

events.

DOCENTS

There is an opportunity to become a "Docent" and help with the Summer Tours for the hotel. The Indian Spring Hotel/Museum is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day on Saturdays and Sundays from 1PM to 4PM. There is a Docent Training Class to familiarize you with the history and duties. PURPOSE

1. Bring together those people interested in history, and especially in the history of Butts County, Georgia and the State of Georgia.

2. Discover and collect any material which may help to establish or illustrate the history of the area.

3. Provide for the preservation of such material and for its accessibility, as far as may be feasible, to all who wish to examine or study the material.

4. The Society will distribute historical information and attempt to arouse interest in the past.

5. Cooperate with State Historical Society (State Historical Commission, or State Department of Archives and History) to collect and preserve materials and make available to the public.

ANNUAL DUES FOR ACTIVE MEMBERS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Life Membership               $1000
